TikTok Shop's 2-day dispatch rule: what a 3PL has to do to keep you selling
TikTok Shop gives a US seller-fulfilled order 2 business days to show an In Transit carrier scan, and grades you on a 4% Late Dispatch Rate. Here is the full policy and what a 3PL has to do on every order to keep you under it.

TikTok Shop gives a US seller-fulfilled order 2 business days to show an In Transit carrier scan, counted from the moment the order reaches Awaiting Shipment. Miss it and the order counts against your Late Dispatch Rate. TikTok Shop wants that rate at or below 4%, and above 10% it may act against the shop. A 3PL keeps you under the line by shipping the day the order lands, using carriers that scan at pickup, and writing tracking back the same day. Here is the rule and what to ask a warehouse before you hand it your TikTok orders.
The rule in TikTok Shop's own words

The US Fulfillment Policy in Seller Center says orders must be marked In Transit, for example scanned by a carrier, within 2 business days of Awaiting Shipment. Business days exclude weekends and US federal holidays. The clock runs on the carrier scan, so a label printed on time does not count until a driver or a counter scans the parcel (TikTok Shop US Fulfillment Policy).
The same policy sets the rest of the timeline for a regular order. The full set looks like this.
| Order type | In Transit scan due | Auto-cancel if no tracking | Delivered by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Regular | 2 business days after Awaiting Shipment | 5 business days | 6 business days |
| Made-to-order, backorder, custom handling | Seller handling time + 1 day | Handling time + 4 days | Handling time + 5 days |
| Pre-order | 2 business days after the pre-order closes | 5 business days after closure | 6 business days after closure |
A regular listing defaults to 1 to 2 business days of handling time. Backorder, custom and made-to-order listings can carry longer handling times, but only if the listing is set up that way before the order comes in.
The four metrics TikTok Shop grades you on
Late Dispatch Rate is the share of dispatched orders that were not updated to In Transit within the SLA. TikTok Shop recommends 4% or lower and says enforcement actions may apply above 10%. Orders fulfilled by TikTok (FBT) are left out of the calculation, so a shop that ships everything itself carries the whole number.
Three more metrics sit next to it in the same policy. Valid Tracking Rate must stay at or above 95%. On-Time Delivery Rate must stay at or above 80%. Seller-Fault Cancellation Rate must stay at or below 2.5%, and an out-of-stock cancellation after purchase counts as seller fault.
Enforcement is a ladder: points off the Account Health Rating, limits on product exposure, order volume limits up to a stop on new orders, and shop deactivation for shops that fail to fulfill. Since June 4, 2026 a seller can appeal a late dispatch penalty when the cause was outside their control, such as a carrier that picked up on time but did not scan. Each enforcement can be appealed twice, the first within 30 days, and each appeal needs carrier or platform evidence (ZQ Solution, June 9, 2026).
Why this is harder than a Shopify order
A Shopify store sets its own handling time and nobody grades it. TikTok Shop grades every order, and its orders arrive in bursts. A Friday night live stream can drop hundreds of orders at once, and all of them need a carrier scan by end of day Tuesday (Here We Ship, updated October 12, 2026). A warehouse that runs one daily export and one afternoon pickup will miss the window on anything that lands late on a Thursday.
The other trap is the scan itself. USPS, UPS and FedEx accept parcels at pickup, but a driver who skips the dock scan leaves the order in a limbo that Seller Center reads as late. Regional carriers such as Veho and UniUni scan at induction. Whoever carries the parcel, the warehouse has to confirm the scan posted, and that the truck leaving is not the same thing.
What to ask a 3PL before you send it TikTok orders

- How do orders get in? A live feed from your store or an approved connector, not a daily CSV. An order that sits in an inbox overnight has already spent a third of its window.
- What is the same-day cutoff, and is it in writing? At BoxHero, orders in by 3:30pm ET leave the same day from 905 Remsen Ave in Brooklyn, and units are scanned at pick, pack and ship, which is how we hold 99.9% pick accuracy. Ask any warehouse for its cutoff and for what happens to an order that lands at 3:31pm.
- Which carriers scan at pickup, and who checks? The answer should name carriers and a person who reconciles manifests against scans each evening.
- How does tracking get back to TikTok Shop? Tracking written to the order is what Seller Center reads. If your TikTok orders flow through Shopify or a connector, ask who confirms the status reached TikTok. That sync is a known failure point.
- What do I get when an order is late? The carrier manifest or pickup record for that day, because an appeal is due within 30 days and needs evidence.
Do you still have to use Fulfilled by TikTok?
No. In January 2026 TikTok Shop told US sellers that Seller Shipping would end, with a full transition to Fulfilled by TikTok, TikTok Shipping or Collections by TikTok by March 31. On February 17, 2026 it paused those deadlines and told sellers that Seller Shipping remains unchanged (EcomCrew, February 27, 2026; ChannelX, February 18, 2026). TikTok has not said the pause is permanent, so the 2-day rule and the four metrics are what keep a self-shipping seller on the platform today.
If you are weighing a 3PL against doing it yourself, start with the five numbers that decide it. If TikTok is one of several channels, Amazon MCF vs a 3PL covers the trade-offs, and the BFCM 2026 ops checklist covers the peak weeks when the 2-day window is hardest to hit.
Where BoxHero fits
We run fulfillment from one building in Brooklyn with a 3:30pm ET same-day cutoff, scan every unit at pick, pack and ship, rate shop each label across 12+ carriers, pass postage through at cost, and write tracking back to your order the day it ships. There are no receiving fees and no monthly minimums, so a shop that spikes on a live stream and goes quiet the next week pays for the orders it actually shipped.
